What's the event called?
The name that appears on your posters and tickets. It goes on the licence, so use the public name.
Where is it happening?
Search for the venue, then drag the pin to the exact spot where liquor will be sold and consumed.
When is it?
The days liquor will actually be sold — not set-up or breakdown days.
Your application is late
You can still apply — but the law adds two costs, and we need a reason for the delay.
Lodgement deadline has passed
An application must reach the WCLA 40 days before the first day of the event. Yours is 0 day(s) past that date.
Late applications are accepted at the WCLA's discretion. They are usually granted, but nobody can promise it.
What being late adds
| Late penalty — R570 per day × 0 | R 0 |
| Condonation application | R 2 860 |
| Added to your costs | R 0 |
A condonation application is a formal request asking the Authority to accept a late lodgement. We draft and lodge it with your application.
How many bars?
Every separate point where liquor is sold counts as a bar — including a single trestle table.
Each bar needs its own floor plan with measurements, showing the sales, consumption and storage areas. We'll ask for those later — a rough sketch is fine to start with.
Is the venue on school property?
This includes school halls, sports fields and church halls that form part of a school.
No
Ordinary venue — nothing extra needed.
Yes, it's school property
The principal must obtain WCED authorisation, and no liquor may be sold or consumed during school hours.
What it will cost
Authority fees for your event, based on what you've told us.
These are the Western Cape Liquor Authority fees only. Our consulting fee is quoted separately. The deadline shown is the last day your application can reach the Authority without a penalty.
Payment
Pay now to start the clock, or carry on filling in your application and pay later.
Pay by EFT
Use your application reference so we can match the payment.
Card payments are coming — for now it's EFT only.
You don't have to pay yet
You can keep adding information to your application and pay when you're ready. We only start work once payment is confirmed.
Your application has been started
Here's what we have so far.
Next: the rest of the application — applicant details, the venue owner, your managers, and the documents we need. That part is being built.
